PREPARATION TIPS: THINGS TO PRACTICE AT HOME
Having your child perform “pretend recitals” for you at home is a WONDERFUL way to help them prepare and understand what to expect at the show.Have them practice these steps in order:
- From their assigned seat in the front row, walk up to the piano or mic, as appropriate. While they are walking, the teacher will be announcing their name and what they will be playing.
- Place your music on the stand if you are using your music.
- Sit down and place your fingers on the appropriate keys for the song.
- Play your piece just like you did in practice. If you make a mistake, don’t stop and start over. Just keep going and pretend it didn’t even happen. More than likely, the audience won’t even know!
- When you finish, stand up, leaving your sheet music/book up on the piano.
- Bow or curtsey. Look out at the audience and smile. J
- Get your sheet music/book and go backstage.
Please review with your children that when they are in the audience, there is to be no talking and no running around. They are to sit quietly where asked.

- Students MUST bring their assigned pieces with them so they can perform with the sheet music they are used to using. The teacher will NOT have extra copies of everyone’s music to use. Children should bring their sheet music/book EVEN if they have their piece memorized, just in case they want to take a peek before playing.
- If your child is using their printed music, please copy the pages they are using and mount them on white or black construction paper, or a manila folder. This will ensure that your child, who has worked very hard for this day, will receive all of the attention, not their neon-colored music book.
-You should arrive at the school 10-15 minutes early. However, please do not enter the building more than 15 minutes before your scheduled start time.
- It is appropriate for all families to stay for the entire recital unless you have an extreme emergency.

Recitals are held in local auditoriums, with a maximum or 40-50 students per show. We use smaller auditoriums and performance halls/rooms to create an intimate, less-threatening atmosphere for our students and their parents.
Winter and Summer recitals are held if there is enough student interest in your area. In addition, we combine recitals with community service by offering organized performing opportunities at nursing homes and retirement apartments.
If you wish to have a trial lesson with your teacher, please fill out the enrollment form and indicate this on the form.
Trial Lessons cost $30 for Master Teachers and $45 for Advanced Music Teachers.
All trial lessons are 30-minutes long. Payment must be made online before teacher holds trial lesson.
Following your trial lesson, simply let the office know whether you wish to continue lessons with your assigned teacher or if you would like to meet another teacher.

Tell friends and neighbors about us and recieve a FREE MONTH of lessons once your referred family has completed three months of lessons.
